
However, all this time spent with the God of the Underworld doesn’t only cause Persephone to question her divine abilities, but also her feelings towards Hades. With imprisonment on the table, Persephone’s feeling of failure as the Goddess of Spring holds her back from her true potential. Persephone is asked to create life in the Underworld, or find herself forever bound to the god for the rest of eternity. A fluke encounter with Hades in his gambling suite at Nevernight causes Persephone to be locked in contract with the God of the Underworld … and unsurprisingly, the terms feel weighted in Hades’ favour. The God of the Underworld has built a gambling empire in the mortal world over the years, with his notorious bets rumoured to be impossible for any mortal to overcome. One night out on the town with her friends leads Persephone to Nevernight, the most exclusive club in New Athens, owned by the greek god Hades. Persephone disguises herself as a mortal, attends college, and starts a new job as a journalist at New Athens News.



At the age of 18 she’s had enough of feeling like a failure in her godly duties, and so moves from the safety of her childhood home to the hustle and bustle of New Athens. Despite being given the title “Goddess of Spring”, Persephone seems to wilt every flower with her touch.
